This collage resembles the title and rank power. This power is very popular in schools. Also in the workplace. I see that to be in a high rank you have to either look physically better than another person and/or have more money. For example the pictures on the left resemble the bad side of title/rank power. They are all popular, and they are neither the smartest or nicest, but have power over others because of their popularity. The people on the left only care about money and titles. And on the right you see people that may not be in a high title/rank.These people tend to have less money, not that great of looks, but the are more intelligent than the others.
Money and looks really come into play with this type of power. I think the title/rank power has to do with a lot about physical power as well as economic power. This shows that people that have the biggest titles may also have not that big of brains. In contrast, Nerds are looked on to be lower than others. The thing is is that they are smarter, yes they may not always have the looks, but they are smart, nice, and powerful people. These people typically have more positive mind sets for all.
In class we studied a lot of power types. There has been a lot of title/rank power in literature. For example in Oedipus Rex, Things Fall Apart, and Macbeth, all the main characters wanted to be powerful and the type of power was title/rank. They all wanted to be king or higher. They abused this power. They all abused how they got there. They killed, abused, and took advantage of the power. One recent example is Macbeth. He was told predictions of him being king. He wanted that title so bad. He never had a reason why it was mostly his wife pushing him to get there. But he did anything he could to get there. Also, in Things Fall Apart, Okonkwo abuses the title of being a man, fighter, and of higher power. He does not care about others and he abused his wife and etc. He just wanted the title of being stronger than another. This shows that in literature the character that gains power then loses it, is because they abuse how they get there or abuse it in general. There is a lot of this power in what we read and learn about in school.
On the other hand as in presidents, they earn their power. There is a reason they are president. Although some may not be the fit for others each president has something to present. Obama, on the right, earned his power. And he did not abuse the title/rank of being president. He did all he did for the people of america. Trump, On the left, I do not think he earned the title he has now. He is just about the money, he has not said anything as positive that Obama has said. This ties back to economics being a big part of title/rank power.
People with higher rank/ title are typically richer than others and or want more. This is abusing the power. This power is supposed to get others people's opinions and ideas to make a better place happen in an orderly way. Not to be selfish. I also added two cars. I put a very expensive car on the left to represent that people of this power have nice things, but don’t always deserve it. On the left I put a Prius. I did this because people whom buy praises are more efficient. They care about other thing other than themselves. They are more intelligent. This can’t always be the reason though, but most times it is.
In conclusion, the title and rank power is very popular. It is everywhere. This collage represents how I feel it represent what this power is. I feel that this power has a lot of components to it. You need to earn the power and not abuse it. You can’t be selfish about it and think only about yourself, but about others. It is not about the fame and money it is about being smart with your choices to affect everyone positively.
